Chadwyck starts a blog, drinks a Caliza.

This is my first time blogging, so I´ll try to keep it sencillo. Basically I´ll write about any wine I happen to pick up, which is mainly Iberian (Spanish and Portuguese) or Latin American stuff. I don´t have any academic wine background, although I´ve been to several bodegas, know a little bit about the process, and have drunk a good deal of it.

If you´re looking for a warhorse wine, pick up some Viña Ardanza, Baron de Oña, or any of the Riojalta vineyard´s products. You can´t go wrong.

If you want to spend a little more cash, pick up a 904 Gran Reserva, which is also a Riojalta product. You can tell these Basques have been making wine for over 110 years. The Viña Arana and Alberdi are also good if you´re on a tighter budget.

In any case, the Caliza smells like alcohol, is rather sweet, and goes well with Gouda cheese. After a few glasses I noticed a burn in the back of my throat. I´m not sure I would buy it again, but I know there are a lot of people out there who like sweeter wines; so if you do, give this one a try.

Salut, salut y forza al canut!
